Teacher 7-8 / Principal

I am a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. (2000) Following high school, I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. I graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005 with a STEP Degree in Physical Education. After graduating, I received my first call to serve at Risen Savior Lutheran School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I taught at Risen Savior Lutheran School from 2005 – 2013. While serving at Risen Savior, I taught 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades along the way, while also serving as their Athletic Director. Also, while serving at Risen Savior, I decided to go back to school to earn my master’s degree. I earned my master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University in December of 2011. My master’s degree is in “teaching, learning, and leadership.” In 2013, I began taking classes again to become a WELS certified mentor of beginning teachers. I completed my training in 2015, and have been working with WELS first and second year teachers since.

The Lord has richly blessed me with family! In August of 2007, my wife Becky and I were married. We met while attending college at Martin Luther College, and were married the year after she graduated. In August of 2011, the Lord blessed Becky and I with our first son, Kai. In February of 2014, the Lord again blessed us with a child, our daughter, Ciara. Surprisingly, the Lord blessed us again in 2016 with our second son, Lincoln. We are now a family of 5, and could not be happier to have each other to support and depend on!

When I graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005, my first call was to serve at Risen Savior Lutheran School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Risen Savior was such a blessing in my life, as it helped to shape the teacher I am today. I was blessed to serve at Risen Savior from 2005 – 2013, serving in many different capacities and grade levels. In 2013, I accepted the call to St. Paul’s, where again I was truly blessed with supportive parents and eager students. Now, in 2023 the Lord has given me the privilege to serve the families here in Big Bend, and my family is excited to see the blessings that come with this call.

I am what most would consider an “outdoorsman.” I enjoy almost any activity that takes place outside. I enjoy playing softball, volleyball, golf, deer hunting, bird hunting, and most of all fishing. I also enjoy most college and professional sports. My strong interests are the Olympics, Milwaukee Brewers baseball, Green Bay Packer football, Wisconsin Badger football, and Wisconsin Badger basketball.  I’m always up for a game!  Outside of sports and recreational activities, I enjoy being a husband, father, and uncle. I also like to watch any history documentary, cooking, and keeping up with my fantasy sports teams!

Michael Martens

Teacher 5-6 / Athletic Director

Hello! My name is Michael Martens. I grew up as a third generation farm boy in New Ulm, Minnesota. I went to St. Paul’s Lutheran for grades K-8, Minnesota Valley Lutheran for high school, and finally Martin Luther College. At MLC I completed a double major in Staff Ministry and Elementary Education. My first assignment out of MLC was to Trinity Lutheran School in Caledonia, Wisconsin where I served five years.

Chris Mastrocola

Teacher 3-4

I grew up in Oshkosh, WI. I attended Grace Lutheran School for K-8 and then went on to high school at Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. My husband, Jim, is a retired police officer and we have three fabulous boys. Nick, our oldest, is a police officer and is married to our favorite daughter-in-law, Heidi, a Medical Technologist. EJ, our second child, is finishing his teaching degree at St. Norbert College and will head out to start his life as a teacher. Tony, the youngest, attends Concordia University studying computers! I love all outdoor sports and activities and especially love doing them with my family! My recent teaching background includes 12 years of middle school English Language Arts, and Art instruction at Peace Lutheran in Hartford, Wisconsin. I graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College, and hold a Wisconsin State Teaching License.

As an alumni of Christ Lutheran School, I am both thrilled and humbled that God has brought me “home” to serve His children here. I am privileged to share God’s love for us with the children of Christ Lutheran and I trust in Him for guidance, “For I am the Lord your God. I am the one who is holding on to your right hand. I am the one who says to you, “Do not fear. I myself am helping you.” Isaiah 41:13, EHV

Kristen Miller

Teacher 1

¡Hola! I am Kristen Miller. I grew up in St. Paul, MN. I attended a public school, a Lutheran school, Lutheran high school and obtained my Bachelor’s degree in education from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. I love mission work and love to travel. While in college I was on a team of students who helped with inner-city VBS in Milwaukee. I was also part of a TCW (travel canvass witness) team that served in Cape Coral, Florida. Since college, I have been part of two Kingdom Workers teams; one helping with a VBS (Vacation Bible School) and swimming lessons program in Grenada. The other team was connected with the disability care program in Malawi, Africa. In 2010, I was chosen as one of four women to represent LWMS (Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society) at the first ever Damas Luteranas convention in Monterrey, Mexico. It was an honor and a privilege to experience these faith-filled women begin their own LWMS and serve God and missionaries within their own country.

Most recently, my volunteer experiences consisted of helping children with varying needs at Midwest Therapeutic Riding Program in Union Grove, WI where I have volunteered for over 10 years. I also continue to volunteer with Inner Beauty Center of Milwaukee as we help women on the streets of Milwaukee find their love and worth in Christ alone. I was married for 24 years. The blessings from God are limitless. We are proud parents of our son and daughter-in-law and now very happy to be grandparents of our first grandchild. I love children of all ages as they bring so much joy at every stage in life. Life goes by quickly. Soak in every moment and share Jesus at every opportunity.

My teaching/educational experiences include:

  • 4 years teaching Gr. 3-4 at Trinity in Crete, IL
  • 5 years teaching Preschool at Word of Life, Milwaukee, WI
  • 1 year teaching Preschool at Trinity, Caledonia, WI
  • 11 years teaching Gr. 1-2 at St. Paul’s in Cudahy, WI
  • 1 year as a house parent to international students at WLHS
  • 6 years teaching K-8 Spanish at Christ the Lord, Brookfield, WI (3 of the 6 years); St.
  • Paul’s, Muskego, WI (5 of the 6 years); and Trinity, Waukesha, WI (all 6 years).
  • 5 years DivorceCare Facilitator at St. Paul’s, Muskego, WI

God has been so good to me in all the places I have served him. Now I look forward to

serving him alongside you at Christ Lutheran. May God continue to bless us all.

Carla Lindhorst

Teacher Kindergarten

Hi, my name is Mrs. Carla Lindhorst and I am excited about serving at Christ Lutheran as the Kindergarten teacher and music coordinator!

I joined the staff in 2021 with rich and varied experiences. I have a Bachelor of Music Education degree, a Parent Educator certificate, and an Elementary Education certificate. I have been a piano and voice instructor for over 30 years. For 14 years I was a certified Music Together teacher sharing music with birth to age 5 children and their families in Fort Myers, Florida and Litchfield, Minnesota. For 7 years I served as a Parent Educator and Preschool Teacher in Minnesota’s Early Childhood Family Education Program in Litchfield, Minnesota. When I lived most recently, in Watertown, South Dakota, I worked as an Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional and then as a first grade teacher.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and biking, gardening, sewing, reading, singing and playing the piano. My husband, Paul, is the new WELS Ministry of Christian Giving Counselor for the Southeastern Wisconsin District. We will celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary in August of 2021. We have been blessed with 6 children and 8 grandchildren.

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Jesus’ lambs at Christ Lutheran School and look forward to talking about Jesus every day with my students!

Laurie Biersack

4K Teacher Preschool / Director

I have lived my whole life in this area of southeastern Wisconsin. I grew up on a 3rd generation dairy farm, which suited me just fine as I love animals and the outdoors. We built our house on the pastureland and now raise beef cattle. I attended K to 8 in the public schools, which included 3 years at a two-room schoolhouse. Those unique years produced my happiest school memories. I attended Northwestern/Luther Prep in Watertown for high school and then received a special education degree at UW-Milwaukee. I taught special education for 5 years in the Janesville Public School system. Then I started an early childhood program at St. Paul’s Lutheran, East Troy. I was the lead 3K/4K teacher, as well as the early childhood director, there until coming to Christ. I have earned my synodical certification through MLC and my 3K to 6th grade elementary license through WLC.

I have 3 adult children. Aliesha is a research analyst. Nick is a fitness online coach and a personal trainer. Ben is an IT specialist. My husband, Bob, is the owner and operator of Biersack Well Service.  My husband and I are also the legal guardians for our close family friend, Chris, who has Down Syndrome.

I enjoy traveling and have spent time in all 48 contiguous states. My next goal is to visit as many of the national parks as possible. God has blessed the United States with majestic places that take one’s breath away. I enjoy playing indoor and sand volleyball, as well as pickleball.  Kayaking, biking, boating, cycle trips, and gardening are other outdoor favorites. I am a history nerd. I spent many summer seasons working at Old World Wisconsin as a costumed interpreter and as a day camp counsellor. I am active in the East Troy Historical Society and am a docent for the Webster House of Elkhorn.

I am a curious person by nature and enjoying nurturing that curiosity in children. I love teaching young people about the world God has made. Music and story time are an important part of the school day. I really enjoy helping the kids complete STEM challenges and science investigations.  Students will learn they are made unique by the Creator, and are capable of doing many things with His help. It is a blessing and a privilege to have the opportunity to nurture young hearts and minds.

Jessica Quinn

3K Teacher / Mornings with Mommy Program Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jessica Quinn and I’m blessed to be the 3K teacher here at Christ Lutheran! I love children and have wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember. I enjoy watching 3 year olds learn and grow throughout the year. They are truly a joy to teach each day! Some of my background includes: starting a brand new preschool in Tennessee, serving as an enrollment coordinator for a children’s center here in the Milwaukee area, and administration/teaching in various preschools and child cares.

I am blessed with 3 children of my own -- two boys and a girl. My boys are in high school at Luther Preparatory School and my daughter enjoys school here at Christ Lutheran School. Some things I enjoy are: summertime, ice cream, tea, stand up paddle boarding, pilates, baking and being a part of an amazing church family here at Christ!
